Is God an artist? What does it mean to create? Can community art bring us together? Join us this summer as we look at local murals and talk about art as creative, communal, empowering, evocative, healing and holy.

Who is created in God’s image?

Today’s worship celebrates that love is love is love; that the image of God is limitless; and that Jesus is constantly challenging and expanding the “religious” boundaries until there are no lines, no barriers, no walls … only love, and healing, and hope.

El culto de hoy celebra que el amor es amor. es amor; que la imagen de Dios es ilimitada; y que Jesús está constantemente desafiando y ampliar las fronteras “religiosas” hasta que no haya líneas, barreras, muros… sólo amor, curación y esperanza.

We create art of all kinds of reasons, beauty, meaning making, protest, storytelling.  Who are the prophets, preachers, poets, painters who were so compelled to make something to share in the world?

What is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?

The northern lights, the rocky mountains, a baby’s birth, a courageous act, but also a gentle goodbye, a peaceful death, an act of forgiveness, a freed prisoner, a faithful voice of dissent. How do we name the beauty that is both expected and unexpected?

Is God an artist?

The God of creation created us in their image. When we stand in awe of the creation, we are empowered to be co-creators with God.
