WORSHIP: SUNDAYS AT 10AM. Worship at Nokomis Heights is a fusion of centuries-old tradition and progressive theology, of English and Spanish, of beloved hymns and contemporary music, of our newly-refurbished organ and acoustic guitars.

During the summer, we worship together outside on the lawn. When it’s not summer, we worship together inside the beautiful sanctuary with stained glass windows. Worship is relaxed and comfortable. Come as you are! Wear whatever makes you comfortable, from business casual to yoga pants to shorts in February.

Bring your children! We are not worried about your child’s inevitable bad days. We all have them. The “Prayground” near the front of the sanctuary features child-sized arm chairs and and bags of books and soft toys. It’s a great place to sit with children during worship, because they’ll have things to do, space to roam, and a good view of what’s going on.

Everyone is invited to communion! You are invited to participate fully in all worship services at Nokomis Heights, no matter what. Ask an usher if you need accessible seating, a large-print bulletin, or directions to the restroom. And remember to stay after worship for fellowship, coffee and donuts! At this time, masks are optional.

VOLUNTEER! Want to do more than sit in the pew? You can read scripture, assist with communion, usher, sing, or play an instrument. If you like to work behind the scenes, you can help set up for worship, decorate for the season or assist with refreshments after worship. Kids can volunteer, too!

Nokomis Heights Lutheran Church (NHLC) of Minneapolis acknowledges that our place of worship occupies the contemporary and ancestral lands of the Dakota and Anishinaabe tribal nations.
We acknowledge the historic and current trauma, grief, and inequities created by our participation in the dominant cultural and religious systems that impact all aspects of human life.
We acknowledge an ongoing responsibility through our collective work and community engagement to understand and address systemic and structural racism wrought by these inequities.
We also acknowledge and apologize for the church’s complicity in perpetuating present and past inequities.
Through these acknowledgments, NHLC honors the embedded history of indigenous strength and resilience, especially the Dakota and Anishinaabe tribal nations, and we affirm the right of each person to bring their whole self and stories into this space.
