My name is Blanca Raniolo and I am from Venezuela. I moved to Minnesota in 2003 to earn my second master’s degree in education from Hamline University.
Since I came to the United States, I have had the privilege of working with Latino community as a leader and as a Parent Engagement Director to support low-income families, finding resources for the community, and fighting inequality and injustice. I had the honor for being part of the Dreamer movement in 2007.
In 2010, I continued pursuing my passion of working in the nonprofit sector by founding the Bilingual Learning Center (BLC), a bilingual and bicultural before and after school program located in Windom School in South Minneapolis.
My passion is working with children from diverse communities, offering them equal opportunities to learn in a welcoming, safe environment regardless race, sexual and gender identity, religion, and cultural background. One of my goals this year is to publish my children’s book, a mindfulness story for kids that explores emotions through the senses.
And now I also have the honor of being part of Nokomis Heights Lutheran Church as a Children’s Ministry Director! The collaboration between BLC and Nokomis Heights’ Sunday School program will make our building a center of belonging and a great resource for the community.
My first priority is creating a space where all the kids feel truly welcome. I want them to have fun while learning that our best and most inseparable friend is Jesus. Everyone is welcome to be part of this wonderful adventure!
Hello Nokomis Family!
My name is Dr. Kim Kokx and I am thrilled to be a part of the Youth and Families Team this year! I am drawn to your congregation for its commitment to loving everyone and everything in God’s beautiful kingdom. I hope to continue in this spirit by making Children’s Ministry fun, relatable, and full of joy!
I am originally from Miami, Florida, where I vocally trained and prepared for a career in musical theater. Since then I have directed over 250 productions, and I love everything the arts can offer both our emotional and spiritual health.
My master’s degree is in educational leadership and my doctorate is in education with an emphasis on how musical theater shapes the academic and emotional growth of young students. I am thrilled and honored to walk alongside your student this year! It will be a blast!
