Nokomis Heights has funded seven sustainable, clean water projects (hand dug wells and spring protection systems) in Ethiopia through Water to Thrive. As a Board member for Water to Thrive, I want to express my deep gratitude for that continuing support-and to urgently ask for your help.

Since its founding in 2009, Water to Thrive has completed 1100 clean water projects with its signature 100 Percent Promise: Every dollar raised for water goes to water projects. That means that when a congregation or other group raises funds for a water project, none of the money is used for Water to Thrive’s infrastructure. Water to Thrive has always raised funds for our operations separately.

This year, the two most lucrative fundraising efforts for funding our infrastructure cannot occur because of the COVID-19 pandemic, creating an anticipated deficit in our operations budget of approximately $150,000. Our staff is small and essential; we must make up this anticipated shortfall to sustain our 100 Percent Promise. I invite you to consider making an urgent gift to Water to Thrive’s Operations Emergency Relief Fund to keep our small staff working in support of our mission. Water to Thrive Board members have created a challenge fund so that every dollar given to this emergency fund will be matched with $0.50, leveraging any contributions received. You can read about Water to Thrive on the website: www.watertothrive.org and about this specific operations relief fund here: https://www.watertothrive.org/campaigns/water-cant-wait-operations-relief/

If you are willing to help, please send your contribution to Nokomis Heights with a notation “Water to Thrive Operations Emergency Relief Fund.” Treasurer Dana Lonn will aggregate the contributions and forward the funds received from our congregation.

With gratitude,

Carol Kaemmerer
