Sunday Worship on the Lawn
July 24, 2022 / 10:00 am – 11:00 am CDT
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us for Sunday worship at 10:00 am outside on the front lawn as we continue with our five-week-long summer sermon series, “Remember, You Were Strangers.” Pastor Kristen Capel is preaching this week on what it means to be exiles, using Psalm 137 as her scripture basis.
Written in exile, Psalm 137 is the song of the Hebrew people torn from their homes and their Temple and carried off to Babylon. “How can I sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land?” cries the psalmist. This week we are introduced to a new type of stranger—the exiled one. Refugees run from. Immigrants run toward. Exiles are forcibly removed. All of them, traumatized strangers in search of a home.
Following worship, you’re invited to stay for coffee and donuts and conversation.
In the case of inclement weather, we will meet for worship in the sanctuary. As COVID is still with us, we are still asking everyone over the age of 2 to wear a mask inside the church building to protect unvaccinated children and other vulnerable populations.
