Sunday Worship on the Lawn

July 17, 2022 / 10:00 am 11:00 am CDT

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us for Sunday worship at 10:00 am outside on the front lawn as we continue in our five-week-long series summer sermon series, “Remember, You Were Strangers.” Pastor Steven Delzer is preaching this week on the story of Hagar from Genesis, chapters 16 and 21. We will also be celebrating Holy Communion.

Hagar, which means “foreign thing,” was an Egyptian slave to Sarah and Abraham. Her story is harsh—Hagar is first a slave, then surrogate, mother, and finally, a refugee running from danger for the sake of her child. How does this story speak to our understanding of the plight of refugees, especially women, today?

Following worship, you’re invited to stay for coffee and donuts and conversation.

In the case of inclement weather, we will meet for worship in the sanctuary. As COVID is still with us, we are still asking everyone over the age of 2 to wear a mask inside the church building to protect unvaccinated children and other vulnerable populations.
