Sunday Worship: Lent 1
February 26, 2023 / 10:00 am – 11:00 am CST
We’ve entered the season of Lent, and with it, we begin a new sermon series based on the book of Jonah. Join us this Sunday as guest preacher Marc Olson introduces us to the story of this reluctant prophet. Worship will also include the imposition of ashes.
Jonah walks a Lenten path. Like all human beings, he is prone to wander from his Creator in favor determining the shape and scope of his own future. This temptation is especially powerful when God calls us to take on risky ventures, travel to strange places, and confront things inside of us that prevent us from seeing one another as God does. God meets us in those liminal, Lent-like spaces when we find ourselves somewhere between trust and doubt, courage and fear, anger and empathy.
Mask wearing is optional within the church building, including during worship. You can mask or not mask, depending on your level of comfort, but please follow the latest CDC guidance if you recently have had COVID.
Not comfortable or unable to worship in person? Don’t worry! You’re invited to join us for worship online premiering at 10:00 am on Facebook and on our YouTube channel.
