Sunday Worship: Advent 3 —Sow Joy

We light the third candle on our Advent wreath and continue our 2023 Advent series Those Who Dream. This week our candle is the candle of joy, and our gospel text is Mary’s song—the Magnificat—that she sings in the presence of her cousin Elizabeth. Even as we hear this song of praise, we recognize what preceded it: news that was disorienting and bewildering—and yet full of joy. Together, Mary and Elizabeth find courage and comfort in spite of their unusual circumstances. We, too, are called to carry, support, and encourage one another’s dreams—sow joy!
