Sunday Worship

This Sunday continues our seven-week worship series based on the narrative lectionary, titled Re-member. Pastor Kristen Capel is preaching this week on Psalm 51, a prayer for cleansing and pardon written by King David after the prophet Nathan confronted him for his sin with Bathsheba, another man’s wife.

Psalm 51 reveals David’s deep grief over the harm he caused. It also exposes his fear that God might not be merciful. It also articulates our deepest fear—that we might irreparably, completely divorce ourselves from God’s love, that we might blot ourselves from God’s memory. But that is not the case. In fact, Psalm 51 assures the sinner that God’s memory of love for sinners is longer than God’s memory for harm.

We have also returned to worshiping in the sanctuary. Mask wearing is now optional within the church building, including during worship. You are invited to mask or not mask, depending on your level of comfort. Please follow the latest CDC guidance if you recently have had COVID.
