Sacred Sites Tour

August 6, 2022 / 10:00 am 2:00 pm CDT

Join the NHLC Racial Justice Team on a Sacred Sites Tour of important, sacred places for the Native community, on Saturday, August 6, 10am-2pm. The tour is part of Healing Minnesota Stories, sponsored by the Minnesota Council of Churches (MCC), an effort to create understanding and healing between Native American and non-Native people. Generations of Native people have suffered deep trauma from loss of land, language, and culture—and all who call Minnesota home are the lesser for it. As communities of faith, we can play a key role in the healing process.

The tour offers an opportunity to learn about Minnesota history from a Native perspective through storytelling and experiencing the sites in silence/meditation/reflection. Tours are led by Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) and Bob Klanderud (Dakota). There is a $30 per person charge. Space is limited and registration required. Please register by Monday, August 1 at office@nokomisheights.org. The tour will meet at Church of St. Peter, 1405 Sibley Memorial Highway, Mendota Heights.

$30
