Ash Wednesday Observance, Online and In-Person

Ash Wednesday provides an opportunity for us to reflect on the things in this world that turn us away from God and one another. The ashes remind us that we came from God and will live with God forever. This year, we invite you to come to Nokomis Heights for a time of personal reflection, confession, and to receive the words of Ash Wednesday along with Communion (both will be self-served, or served by a family member or friend who is in your COVID-safe circle). Pastor Steve Delzer will be at church to preside over Communion and to offer prayers. Julie Urban will also be there, providing music for quiet reflection.
To insure everyone’s safety, we require you to sign up online for a 15-minute time of reflection. Simply choose a time between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. As always, masks are required, and social distancing will be practiced while in the church space.

There will also be a brief online worship service on both YouTube and Facebook. The worship will premiere online at 8:00 am on Ash Wednesday. You can watch then or any time after. Even if you worship at home, we invite you to come to church for communion and reflection. We hope you will take advantage of this time to sit in our beautiful sanctuary and reflect on God’s promise to be with you from the beginning to the end and on every step of your journey.
