Delegates to the ELCA Churchwide Assembly in August 2019 overwhelmingly  approved the social statement, “Faith, Sexism and Justice: A Call to Action.”  The social statement focuses on issues related to justice for women, and was seven years in the making. It names patriarchy and sexism as sins and calls the church to action on a range of issues, including gender-based violence, workplace discrimination, and economic inequality. Dr. Mary Lowe, Associate Professor of Religion at Augsburg University, served on the ELCA Task Force for the social statement, and she will join us to discuss what it says and her part in crafting it.
