Council Approves Changes to Worship & Education Times
In July, the Nokomis Heights Congregation Council voted to move to having only one worship year-round. Beginning Sunday, September 10, we will be moving to our new schedule:

9am Education for all ages (Adult Forum & Sunday school)
10am Worship

At the Annual Meeting in January, we will check in to see how the new schedule is working. (Posted: 09/01/2017)

Sign Up to Serve Forum Treats This Fall
We're looking for some coffee-and-treats servers for the upcoming Adult Forum series. As always, the speakers and conversations will be awesome, and coffee and treats are a much loved part of our Sunday morning tradition. We're looking for two volunteers on a given Sunday, to brew and serve, but the work can be easier and more fun with more!

Servers are asked to bring treats for the morning, such as rolls, donuts, fruit, or cookies, purchased or homemade. Forum attendance is typically 30-50 people. Coffee and supplies such as napkins, sugar, and creamer are furnished by the congregation. Details about serving are posted on the kitchen bulletin board. Adult Forum starts at 9am and lasts until 9:45, with worship at 10am. (Note the new forum and worship times!) Typically, servers need to arrive about 20-30 minutes early to prepare.

Sign up to serve on our online sign-up page: Click on the Forum/Fellowship tab at the bottom of the page, and type in your name in the appropriate date slot or slots. Or, you may use the old-school, handwritten sign-up sheet that's posted on the bulletin board near the kitchen. Please sign up for as many or as few dates as you wish.

Thanks in advance for your help in this important coffee ministry!

Shut-in Visits from Pastor Susan
Every year at this time we make an extra effort to check up on people who would like regular visits for holy communion in their homes or care facilities. Do you know someone who is home bound or for any reason can't be in worship? Connect with Pastor Susan at any time, and know that keeping up with people through the changes of circumstance and health is a high priority at Nokomis Heights. We welcome everyone's help with the details. (Posted: 09/01/2017)
South Mpls Meals on Wheels Board Seeks Members
South Minneapolis Meals on Wheels operates under a Board of Directors, which is currently composed of representatives from member churches. At the present time there are 17 member churches in the program, with one voting representative/director from each church. The board has been undergoing a huge revitalization plan that will go into effect on January 1, 2018. As a part of this restructuring process, we are opening up our board membership applications to additional members of our congregations and the community at large. The main areas that we are focusing on are:

* Strategic Planning (making short and long-term planning with measures of success)
* Public Relations (being an ambassador to our community)
* Governance (assure that decisions are made transparently)
* Finance and Fund-Raising (to ensure the financial stability of the organization)

Having a more diversified board will enable our program to serve the needs and wellbeing of our clients more effectively. Interested parties can call us at 612-817-5900 or email us at or contact your South Minneapolis Meals on Wheels church representative. Thank you for your continuing support of this program which strengthens our community by allowing our community members to stay in our community.
