A Letter from Pastor Susan
Sunday, January 6, 2019
Dear Friends,
I am writing to inform you that I have received a call for the senior pastor position at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City, Iowa. The process to discern this call has not been easy. I deeply treasure you as a congregation, as well as the ministry we share. With the Holy Spirit's urging, I have decided to accept this call and resign from Nokomis Heights.

In the next few days, the church council and I will create and communicate a transition schedule, and we will invite the Minneapolis Area Synod staff to join us in planning for the pastoral care and coverage at Nokomis Heights. I am confident that Bishop Svennungsen and her staff will provide prompt and wonderful attention for all that lies ahead.

Please know that I have been incredibly shaped, challenged, and inspired by my time as your pastor, and I will hold you in my heart and prayers, with deep gratitude, in all the years to come.

In the peace of Christ,
Pastor Susan (Posted: 01/11/2019)
Winter Weather Worship Policy
In the case of bad winter weather, the answering machine at the church office will reflect cancellations or changes in schedule a minimum of 90 minutes prior to an event. You may also check our Facebook page and website. Please note that if you do not feel it’s safe to travel to or from church, you should stay home. When the weather clears—and it will—we’ll look forward to seeing you back in worship!

Matching Dollars Will Fund Our 6th Well with Water To Thrive in East Africa
Funds from Thrivent and pledges by three households of Nokomis Heights totaling $1700 are available for a 1:1 match of your donations through April 2019. If all of these matching funds are used up with your donations, this total added to past amounts will
be enough to fund NHLC’s 6th water project with Water To Thrive. Make your tax-deductible donation by putting “Well #6” on the memo line of your check to NHLC.
